VacationSelector collects as little as possible. The comparison tools run entirely in your browser: your slider weightings and wizard answers are never sent to a server, and creating a shareable link simply encodes your weighting in the address.

A few small preferences are kept on your own device so the site opens the way you left it: your currency, your units, and the last two cities you had in front of you. They sit in your browser’s local storage, they are not sent anywhere, and clearing your browsing data removes them.

Sharing a result hands that address to your own device: the share sheet, your mail app, or the network you pick from the menu. There are no social buttons or embedded widgets on this site, and nothing about a share leaves your browser until you choose where to send it.

The two Google services this site uses

Google Analytics (property G-DMKKTEYHHF) records which pages are read, roughly where in the world readers arrive from, and what kind of device they use. It is told the address of the page and nothing else about what you did on it: the weighting you choose is stripped from the address before it is reported, so a comparison you read once counts once however long you spend moving the sliders.

Google AdSense shows the adverts that pay for the research behind these pages, and may set cookies on your device in order to do so. Adverts are kept out of the charts, the tables and the wizard by design. What an advert knows about you is governed by Google’s own policy rather than by this one.

Your choice comes first

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, neither service stores anything or reports anything until you have answered Google’s consent message. Analytics storage, advertising storage, advertising personalisation and the sharing of advertising data all begin in the denied state, and they change only if you say so. Elsewhere they begin granted, because no such rule applies there.
