Where they differ

Antalya has many times as many bars and nightclubs, about half of them near the centre. It also gives more scope for days out: 8% of the land around it is protected against 2% around Paphos, with far more park space near the centre. Turkey's national daily estimate is €100 against Cyprus's €129.

Paphos is milder and drier, with highs of 17-31°C across the year against Antalya's 15-35°C, and twice as many months at 40mm of rain or less. It has 27 beaches nearby, more than twice Antalya's count.

Where they are alike

Neither is a food city first. Antalya has about three times as many restaurants near the centre; Paphos spreads its choice across a wider range of kitchens.

Families and heritage land in similar places. Both offer ways to fill a day with children, Paphos through attractions near the centre, Antalya through park space and 5 theme parks within reach. Museums are thin in both, though Paphos has 2 UNESCO-listed places within day-trip reach.

Which traveller are you?

If evenings matter, Antalya. It has many times as many bars and clubs, about half of them near the centre, and about twice as many notable places within walking distance of it, so a night out needs little planning.

For swimming, Paphos has 27 beaches nearby, more than twice Antalya's count, with the sea 1km from both centres. Antalya's water stays at 21°C or more for 7 months of the year, a month longer than Paphos's.

Travelling with children, either works. Paphos concentrates its attractions near the centre, which suits short days; Antalya answers with more park space and 5 theme parks within reach.

What the numbers don't tell you

The daily budget figures, €100 for Turkey and €129 for Cyprus, are national estimates of restaurant and hotel price levels, not measurements of Antalya or Paphos. A heavily visited coastal city can sit a long way from its own country's average, by more than the gap between these two numbers, so they cannot tell you which trip will cost more.

No weather station near Paphos records sunshine hours, so that figure is missing rather than low, and its monthly picture rests on temperature, rainfall and sea temperature alone. Its beach count also says nothing about how full those beaches get in August.

When should you go?

The figures behind each month. Each row is shaded against that destination's own year, so the deepest cell is its best month for that measure and the palest its weakest. Shades are not comparable between the two rows.

WorseBetter

Antalya is at its best in May, with highs of 26°C, 41mm of rain and the sea at 21°C, and again in September, when the sea holds 28°C. July and August reach 35°C, and the winter is wet, with 273mm in December.

Paphos holds its shape at both ends of the year. April to June and October stay dry, October pairing 27°C with 14mm of rain and a sea at 25°C, and its winter rain stays well below Antalya's.

The busiest departure cities for these two, with a place kept for each other part of the world. Busiest means arriving passengers where an official count exists, and where none does, the number of non-stop services flown: official route statistics are published by the European reporting countries and by nobody else, so a table ranked on them alone would offer a reader in New York or Tokyo ten European cities. Flying times are estimated from the distance between airports, and every row is a city flown non-stop to both. Where the typical offer connects anyway, the stops are shown. Under each figure is the airport the flight lands at and how far that is from the centre, because the nearest airport is not always the one a route is flown to. Where both columns name the same airport it is one flight, and the difference between the two is the distance printed beside it. Typical return fares for 2026-08 to 2026-10, cached market data up to 7 days old. The figure is the middle half of the offers found, so a single price means they agreed and a range means they did not; for a typical route that middle half spans about a quarter of the median, and for the least settled routes rather more than the median itself.
