Where they differ

Salzburg is the stronger place for a day spent in town: many times as many museums, a much wider range of kitchens and twice as many notable places within walking distance. For children it is not close: roughly three times as many attractions and park space near the centre, and 4 theme parks within reach where Como has none.
Where they are alike
Neither city is a swimming destination. Both list beaches nearby, 9 around Salzburg and 8 around Como, but neither has a month with sea at 21°C or more, so a swim is a warm-day extra at best.

The daily budget figures, €155 for Italy and €160 for Austria, are national price levels for restaurants and hotels, not measurements of either city. A heavily visited town can sit well above its own country's average, by more than the gap between these two figures, so read them as country context and price the trip itself.
