What the numbers don't tell you

The daily budgets, €131 and €138, are national price levels for restaurants and hotels, not measurements of either city. A heavily visited coastal city can sit well above its own country's average, by more than the gap between those two figures, so neither number tells you which trip will cost more.

Split's beaches and its hottest, driest weather peak in the same two months, so the widest choice among 87 beaches coincides with the busiest weeks. Bled works the other way: its warmest months are also its wettest, so summer warmth there comes with the year's heaviest rain.
