What the numbers don't tell you

The value comparison between these two carries no information. That figure is a national price level, identical for both by construction, and the €155 a day beside it is one national estimate rather than a measurement of either city. Neither can be called the cheaper trip on this evidence.

Catania's warmth is not uniformly useful: July and August reach 34-35°C, which is also when the beaches closest to the centre are busiest, and the mild-sounding winter carries the year's heaviest rain. Pisa's parks and theme parks sit in a city whose autumn is its wettest stretch, so outdoor time depends on timing.
