Where they differ

What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figures, €155 and €163, are national estimates of restaurant and hotel price levels rather than measurements of either city. A lake town and a large regional city can each sit well away from their country's average, by more than the gap between those two figures, so neither can be called the cheaper trip on this evidence.
Como's warmest months are also its wettest, each bringing more than 150mm, so warmth and dry days do not arrive together there. And the beach counts describe access to water, not swimming conditions: neither city has a month with sea at 21°C or more.
