Where they differ

Malaga runs warmer all year, with daytime highs of 17-32°C against San Sebastian's 11-23°C, and five months at 40mm of rain or less where San Sebastian has none. It also has many times as many tourist attractions near the centre, plus more park space for children.

San Sebastian has about three times as many notable places within walking distance of the centre, so sightseeing needs less transport. It also has one theme park within reach where Malaga has none, and more protected land around it for walking days.

Where they are alike

What the numbers don't tell you

The value comparison between these two carries no information. Value here is a national price level, identical for both by construction, and the €122 daily figure beside it is one national estimate rather than a measurement of either city. Neither is the cheaper trip on this evidence.

The weather and beach figures point at Malaga in July and August, which are also its hottest months and the ones when its 21 beaches take the most demand. San Sebastian's strongest months are not dry ones either: July is its lightest at 92mm, more than any Malaga month between May and September.
