The verdict

Choose Monaco if the sea is the point of the trip: 50 beaches within reach and four summer months warm enough to swim, in a centre small enough to cross on foot.

Choose Turin if you want the city itself: far more museums, restaurants and bars, and a centre that gives you something to do in any month rather than only the warm ones.

Where they differ

Monaco is the one with a coast: 50 beaches nearby against one in Turin, and four months when the sea reaches 21°C or more. It also has 3 theme parks within reach and packs about twice as many notable sights into walking distance of the centre.

Turin has many times as many restaurants near the centre and a wider range of kitchens, about three times as many museums, more tightly grouped around the centre, and more UNESCO-listed places within day-trip reach. The gap in bars and clubs is wider still.

Where they are alike

Both keep their sights close together. Monaco fits about twice as many notable places into walking distance, but Turin's are also grouped near the centre, so in each case a day can be spent on foot without transport.

The weather is the other near-match: both peak at 28-29°C in summer and both are coolest in January. Each also gives families attractions and open space near the centre, though in quite different forms.

Which traveller are you?

Swimmers and sun-seekers should take Monaco. It has 50 beaches within reach and four months of sea at 21°C or more, alongside the steadier year-round weather; Turin has no meaningful coast.

Anyone travelling for museums, food and evenings out belongs in Turin: many times more restaurants and drinking places than Monaco, about three times as many museums, and more UNESCO-listed places within day-trip reach.

Families are split. Turin has about three times as many attractions near the centre and far more park space; Monaco counters with 3 theme parks within reach and the beaches, which suits younger children in summer.

What the numbers don't tell you

No cost comparison is possible here. The dataset carries a daily budget for Turin, at €155, but none for Monaco, so the value axis cannot be read across the two and nothing here tells you how the two trips compare on price.

The sunshine figure is missing for Turin, so that side of the weather comparison is unmeasured and its monthly ratings rest on temperature and rainfall alone. Monaco's beach advantage is also narrower than it looks: the sea reaches 21°C or more in only four months, and November is its wettest, at 138mm.

When should you go?

The figures behind each month. Each row is shaded against that destination's own year, so the deepest cell is its best month for that measure and the palest its weakest. Shades are not comparable between the two rows.

No sunshine record

Temperature and rainfall are thirty-year climate normals, averaged over the years shown. Monaco: 1991-2020 normals, Nice (19.9 km from centre). Turin: 1991-2020 normals, Torino / Caselle (15.4 km from centre).

WorseBetter

Monaco peaks in July and August: highs of 28°C, sea at 24-25°C and only 13-18mm of rain, the driest stretch of its year. From October onwards the rain turns heavy, so early autumn is the last comfortable window.

Turin is at its warmest in high summer, at 26-29°C, and works well from late spring for a city trip, though its warm months are also its wet ones: September stays warm but brings 116mm. Winter is the weakest time, with daytime highs around 7°C.

The busiest departure cities for these two, with a place kept for each other part of the world. Busiest means arriving passengers where an official count exists, and where none does, the number of non-stop services flown: official route statistics are published by the European reporting countries and by nobody else, so a table ranked on them alone would offer a reader in New York or Tokyo ten European cities. Flying times are estimated from the distance between airports, and every row is a city flown non-stop to both. Where the typical offer connects anyway, the stops are shown. Under each figure is the airport the flight lands at and how far that is from the centre, because the nearest airport is not always the one a route is flown to. Where both columns name the same airport it is one flight, and the difference between the two is the distance printed beside it. Typical return fares for 2026-08 to 2026-10, cached market data up to 7 days old. The figure is the middle half of the offers found, so a single price means they agreed and a range means they did not; for a typical route that middle half spans about a quarter of the median, and for the least settled routes rather more than the median itself.
