What the numbers don't tell you

The daily budget figure is a single national estimate of restaurant and hotel price levels, €160 for Nice's country and €155 for Pisa's. It is not a measurement of either city, and a heavily visited city can sit further from its national average than these two figures sit from each other, so it cannot tell you which trip costs more.

The sea is as warm in Pisa, but it is 10km from the centre and served by one beach, so swimming is a day out rather than a walk. And Nice's driest, warmest months are also the ones everyone else picks; the quieter shoulder months are the wet ones.
