Where they differ

Seoul is the stronger heritage city, with about three times as many museums and 5 UNESCO-listed places within day-trip reach against 1. For families it has roughly twice as many attractions near the centre and more theme parks within reach, plus about twice as many places to drink.

Singapore is the swimming trip: the sea sits 2km from the centre rather than 28km, with 42 beaches nearby against Seoul's 1 and water at 21°C or more every month of the year. Its centre also puts more notable places within walking distance.

Where they are alike

On weather the two end up close: both get a similar amount of sun over the year, around 2050-2070 hours, but Seoul earns it in a few months and Singapore spreads it evenly.

Neither is a base for wild country: only 1% of the land around each is protected, and day trips lean on parks rather than open landscape. Both eat well too, with a similar range of kitchens near the centre and Singapore holding somewhat more restaurants.

A family that wants swimming in the trip should take Singapore. The sea is 2km from the centre, there are 42 beaches nearby and the water stays warm all year, where Seoul's coast is 28km out and only briefly warm.

A night-out traveller can go either way. Seoul has about twice as many places to drink, spread across the city; Singapore has far more clubs and most sit near the centre, so nights need less travel.

What the numbers don't tell you

The dataset carries no daily budget figure for either city, so no cost comparison is possible here: nothing in these numbers says which trip is the cheaper one, and the value axis rests on a different measure. Price it yourself before booking.

Singapore's beach figures describe access and water temperature, not conditions: no month falls below 109mm of rain and December brings 329mm, so a beach day can be interrupted at any time of year. Seoul's driest months, January and December, are also its coldest at 2-4°C, and its two months of warm sea are its two wettest.
