Where they differ

What the numbers don't tell you
The value figure is a national price level, identical for both by construction, so it says nothing about which of the two is cheaper. The daily budget of €163 beside it is one national estimate, not a measurement of either city, and costs in a city of 3.8 million people are worth checking directly.
The warmest months are also the wettest: July in Berlin and August in Dresden top the year for rain, so a warm week can still be an indoor one. Berlin's lead in nightlife also comes spread well beyond the centre, meaning transport late at night rather than a short walk.

Berlin's steadiest stretch is May to September, with highs of 20-25°C and rainfall near 50mm in most of those months; August holds 25°C with 53mm against 83mm in Dresden, which makes late summer the clearer case for Berlin.
Dresden is the better pick either side of summer: February and March are drier, at 31mm and 36mm, and April reaches 17°C. Its July peak of 26°C comes with 80mm, so the heat and the rain arrive together.
