Where they differ
Florence has about three times as many museums as Geneva, and roughly three times as many notable places within walking distance of the centre, with its museums sitting tightly around it. Italy's national daily estimate is €155 against Switzerland's €248.
Around Geneva, 27% of the land is protected against 9% around Florence, and there is about twice as much park space near the centre. Geneva also offers a much wider range of kitchens, though Florence has somewhat more restaurants close to its centre.
Where they are alike
Neither city is a place to swim. Florence has no beaches at all, and although 43 sit within reach of Geneva, neither has a month with sea at 21°C or more, so a trip built around water will disappoint in both.
Nights out are comparable: both keep bars and clubs close to the centre, Florence with somewhat more places to drink, Geneva with more nightclubs. Both are at their coldest in January, and neither is dry in autumn.

What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figures are national estimates, €155 for Italy and €248 for Switzerland, covering restaurant and hotel price levels country-wide rather than either city. A heavily visited city can sit further from its own national average than these two averages sit from each other, so the gap says little about what a week in either will actually cost.
Florence's warmth is unevenly spread. Its driest months are also its hottest, up to 33°C, while the milder autumn weeks carry the year's heaviest rain at 125-132mm, so the pleasant temperature and the dry weather rarely arrive together.

Geneva's window is high summer, reaching 24-27°C, though rain barely relents at 77-81mm through those months. January, with highs of 5°C, is its weakest month by a wide margin.
