Where they differ
Florence has many times as many notable places within walking distance of the centre, so sightseeing means little transport. The daily budget figures, €155 and €160, are national price levels for restaurants and hotels in the two countries, not measurements of either city. A heavily visited city can sit well above its own country's average, by more than the gap between the two figures, so treat them as background rather than a comparison of what either trip will cost.
Warm does not mean dry. Salzburg's warmest months, July and August, are also its wettest; Florence's September warmth arrives with a sharp rise in rain. And the beaches counted near Salzburg do not add up to swimming weather: neither city has a month of sea at 21°C or more.
