Where they differ

What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figures, €125 for Greece and €76 for Albania, are national price levels for restaurants and hotels rather than measurements of either city. A capital or a heavily visited city can sit well away from its own country's average, by more than the gap between the two figures, so this tells you little about what a day will actually cost in either place.
Both cities peak in the same summer window, and Thessaloniki's driest months are also its hottest, at 32°C, so beach weather arrives with high-season heat. Tirana's warm sea still involves a 26km trip each way.
