What the numbers don't tell you

The daily budget figures, €160 for Austria and €138 for Croatia, are national estimates of restaurant and hotel price levels, not measurements of either city. A capital and a smaller city can each sit well away from their own country's average, by more than the gap between the two figures, so the difference is not evidence that one city costs more than the other.

The beach counts are close, but neither city has a month of sea at 21°C or more, so they describe inland water rather than swimming. Innsbruck's warmest months are also its wettest, at up to 144mm.
