Where they differ
Salzburg is the one with green space at hand: 6% of the land around it is protected against 4% around Venice, and about three times as much park space near the centre.
Venice puts many times more notable places within walking distance, so more of the city works on foot, and it has more museums and more UNESCO-listed sites within day-trip reach. It also has 20 beaches nearby against Salzburg's 9, and 4 months of sea at 21°C or more, which Salzburg has none of.

What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figures, €160 and €155, are national price levels for restaurants and hotels, not measurements of either city. A heavily visited city can sit well above its own country's average, by more than the gap between these two figures, so they tell you nothing about which trip costs more.
Venice's beach and sea advantage falls in the months when it is warmest and busiest, and the same concentration of sights that makes it walkable also means crowding in the same few streets. Salzburg's warmest months are also its wettest, near 160mm, so a warm month there is not a dry one.

Salzburg's best window is midsummer, when highs reach 25°C, but that is also the year's heaviest rain, near 160mm a month. September stays around 20°C and is noticeably drier, which makes it the calmer choice.
Venice stays warm from May to August at 24-30°C, with the sea swimmable through high summer. September is its wettest month at 106mm, so early summer is the safer bet for dry days. Midwinter is dry, under 40mm, but highs only reach 8°C.
