What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figures, €138 for Split's country and €155 for Verona's, are national estimates of restaurant and hotel price levels, not measurements of either city. A heavily visited city can sit well above its own national average, so the gap cannot tell you which trip costs more.
Split's beach advantage is narrow in time. It rests on the months when the sea holds 21°C or more, which are also the busiest months to travel. Outside them the beaches do little, and the wettest stretch of the year follows soon after, into November. Verona's family count rests on theme parks within reach rather than in the city itself.
