The verdict
Choose Bath if you want a short break where the museums, the restaurants and the bars sit within walking distance of each other, and you would rather have less choice than a transport ride between decisions.
Choose Paris if you want depth: far more places to eat, far more to do after dark, more for children, and warmer summers, with highs near 26°C in August.

Where they differ
Bath's advantage is compactness. Its museums cluster tightly around the centre, and its drinking places are nearly all central, where in Paris only about half of them are, so an evening out needs no transport.
Paris wins on choice: many times as many notable places within walking distance of the centre, many times as many restaurants and a somewhat wider range of kitchens, and many times as many bars and clubs. It also has 4 UNESCO-listed places within day-trip reach against Bath's 2.
Where they are alike
Nature and day trips separate them least: 28% of the land around each is protected, so both put open country within reach of a day's outing, though Paris has about twice as much park space near its centre.
Neither is a swimming destination: neither sees sea at 21°C or more, and beaches are marginal at both. The weather profile is similar in shape too: both are coldest in January, at 7-8°C, and both peak in summer.
Which traveller are you?
Someone travelling for the table and the night out should go to Paris: many times as many restaurants near the centre, a somewhat wider range of kitchens, and many times as many bars and clubs.
Families are better served in Paris too, with 3 theme parks within reach against Bath's 1, about twice as much park space near the centre, and many more attractions close in.
A weekend traveller who would rather not use transport should pick Bath. Its museums and heritage sit tightly around the centre, and the protected country nearby makes a half-day walk easy to arrange.
What the numbers don't tell you
No daily cost figure exists for Bath in this data, so the two cannot be compared on price at all, and nothing here supports calling either the cheaper trip. The value ranking rests on a separate measure both cities do have, not on what a day costs.
The sunshine figure is missing for Paris, since no nearby station records it, so that side of the weather comparison is unmeasured rather than poor. And Paris peaks in July and August, which is also when a city with many times as many attractions near the centre is at its most crowded.
When should you go?
The figures behind each month. Each row is shaded against that destination's own year, so the deepest cell is its best month for that measure and the palest its weakest. Shades are not comparable between the two rows.
Temperature and rainfall are thirty-year climate normals, averaged over the years shown. Bath: 1991-2020 normals, Lyneham (29.2 km from centre). Paris: 1991-2020 normals, Paris-Montsouris (4.6 km from centre).
Bath's window is June to August, when highs reach 19-21°C and rainfall holds near 56-66mm. October and November are the wettest months, at 83-87mm, so an autumn visit means planning around indoor time.
Paris runs warmer and stays comfortable longer, from June to September at 22-26°C, with August the warmest. Its wet outlier is May at 75mm; winter rain is lighter than Bath's, so a cold-season break there is the drier one.

The busiest departure cities for these two, with a place kept for each other part of the world. Busiest means arriving passengers where an official count exists, and where none does, the number of non-stop services flown: official route statistics are published by the European reporting countries and by nobody else, so a table ranked on them alone would offer a reader in New York or Tokyo ten European cities. Flying times are estimated from the distance between airports, and every row is a city flown non-stop to both. Where the typical offer connects anyway, the stops are shown. Under each figure is the airport the flight lands at and how far that is from the centre, because the nearest airport is not always the one a route is flown to. Where both columns name the same airport it is one flight, and the difference between the two is the distance printed beside it. Typical return fares for 2026-09 to 2026-09, cached market data up to 7 days old. The figure is the middle half of the offers found, so a single price means they agreed and a range means they did not; for a typical route that middle half spans about a quarter of the median, and for the least settled routes rather more than the median itself.
