Where they differ
Bratislava is the greener of the two. 14% of the land around it is protected against 4% around Venice, and it has far more park space close to the centre, so half-days out of town are part of the trip rather than an expedition. It also counts 36 beaches nearby against Venice's 20, though none of them come with a warm-water season.
Venice holds about three times as many notable places within walking distance of its centre, so most of a visit is covered on foot. Its water is the one you can swim in, reaching 26°C in late summer.
Where they are alike
Weather separates them least. Both run a long warm season and a cool rather than harsh winter, Venice at 8-30°C across the year and Bratislava at 3-27°C, with a similar amount of sunshine.
The national price estimates behind them are close, €132 for Slovakia against €155 for Italy. Each holds a comparable number of museums, and both suit families in different ways: Venice with more attractions near the centre, Bratislava with far more park space.
Which traveller are you?

What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figure is a national estimate, one for Slovakia and one for Italy, reflecting general restaurant and hotel price levels rather than either city. A capital and a heavily visited lagoon city can each sit well away from their country's average, by more than the gap between the two national figures, so it should not be read as evidence about what a trip to either place costs.
A beach count is not a swimming season. Bratislava's 36 beaches come with no month of water at 21°C or more, while Venice's warm sea arrives in exactly the months its compact centre is busiest.
When should you go?

Bratislava is at its best from June to September, when daytime highs run 22-27°C and rainfall stays around 64-78mm. Its autumn is the drier of the two, and the summer heat stops short of uncomfortable.
Venice suits the months either side of summer. March and April reach 15-19°C where Bratislava lags behind, and winter days sit near 8°C rather than 3°C. Autumn is its wet stretch, 106mm in September, so spring is the safer window if you are choosing on rain rather than sea temperature.
