Where they differ

What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figures, €160 for Austria and €155 for Italy, are national estimates of restaurant and hotel price levels, not measurements of either city. A heavily visited city can sit well above its own country's average, by more than the gap between these two numbers, so they cannot tell you which trip costs more.
Venice's beaches and its walkable centre peak in the same weeks: the four months of sea above 21°C are also when the centre draws most visitors. Innsbruck's warmest months are also its wettest, so its best window is not a dry one.
