Where they differ

Venice has the swimming, with far more beaches nearby and four months of sea at 21°C or more. Its centre holds many times as many notable places within walking distance, and families get far more attractions, more park space and 3 theme parks where Mostar has none.
Where they are alike
Weather is where they are most alike. Both are coldest in January, with highs of 9°C and 8°C, and both peak in August: a long warm middle to the year, a short cool winter.

Venice's beaches and its dense centre both look best in the same weeks: the months when the sea is warm enough to swim are also when the centre is busiest, and nothing in the figures measures crowds. Mostar's driest months are also its hottest, at 33°C, so its best rainfall months ask you to walk a small centre in full heat.

Mostar peaks in May, with highs of 25°C and rain easing from the winter. Midsummer is hot at 33°C and the driest stretch of the year. Autumn and early winter turn heavy, up to 192mm a month.
Venice is best in June and July at 28-30°C, with sea warm enough for swimming; September stays warm but is its wettest month at 106mm. Winter is the drier of the two here, under 40mm in January, which makes cool-weather sightseeing more feasible.
