Where they differ
Munich has about three times as many places to drink as Venice and many times as many nightclubs. It also has far more park space near the centre, and 17% of the land around it is protected against 4% around Venice, which makes day trips into open country practical.
Venice answers with water: 20 beaches nearby against Munich's 6, and four months when the sea reaches 21°C or more, where Munich has none. Its centre also packs notable places more tightly within walking distance.
Where they are alike

What the numbers don't tell you
The daily budget figures, €163 and €155, are national estimates of restaurant and hotel prices, not measurements of either city. A heavily visited city can sit further from its own country's average than these two figures sit from each other, so neither tells you which trip costs more.
Venice's warm-sea months are also its busiest, in a centre where most of the sights and the drinking places sit close together, so the four-month swimming window comes with crowds. Munich's warmest months are its wettest, above 100mm, so summer highs there arrive with rain.
