Where they differ
Antalya gives you more to fill days away from the water. 8% of the land nearby is protected against 5% around Bodrum, and there is more park space near the centre. It has 5 theme parks within reach against Bodrum's 1, twice as many places to drink and twice as many notable places within walking distance.
Bodrum is the stronger swimming base: the sea is 0km from its centre, and there are 30 beaches nearby against Antalya's 11. Its kitchens cover a wider range and summer highs stay near 31°C.
Where they are alike
Both put the sea first. The water is at the centre in Bodrum and 1km from it in Antalya, and both have a long warm-water season, peaking in August at 29°C and 25°C respectively, with plenty of beach within easy reach.
Neither is a heritage trip. Museums are few in both, and neither has a UNESCO-listed place within day-trip reach. Eating out is similarly modest in scale on both sides, differing in character rather than depth.
Which traveller are you?
Travelling with children: Antalya. It has 5 theme parks within reach against Bodrum's 1 and much more park space near the centre, though Bodrum has more tourist attractions in its centre.
Beach-first swimmer: Bodrum, where the sea is at the centre and 30 beaches sit close by. If you are travelling in late spring or autumn, Antalya's water stays swimmable across more of the year.
Out late and on foot: Antalya, with roughly twice as many places to drink and twice as many notable places within walking distance of the centre, though Bodrum's own nightlife is concentrated tightly around its centre.
What the numbers don't tell you
The value comparison between these two carries no information. Both take the same national price level, so it is identical by construction and says nothing about which trip costs less. The €100 a day beside it is one national estimate, not a measurement of either city.
Sunshine hours are missing for Bodrum, since no nearby station records them, so that side of the weather comparison is unmeasured and the monthly picture there rests on temperature, rainfall and sea temperature alone. Its 30 beaches also sit around a town of 175,000 people, so the best months concentrate visitors on them.
When should you go?
The figures behind each month. Each row is shaded against that destination's own year, so the deepest cell is its best month for that measure and the palest its weakest. Shades are not comparable between the two rows.
Temperature and rainfall are thirty-year climate normals, averaged over the years shown. Bodrum: 1993-2020 (rainfall 1991-2020) normals, Kos Airport (42.7 km from centre). Antalya: 1991-2020 normals, Antalya (23.4 km from centre).
Antalya is at its best in May, with highs of 26°C and 41mm of rain, and again in September, when days reach 32°C, the sea holds 28°C and only 18mm falls. December is the month to avoid, at 273mm.
Bodrum peaks a touch later and cooler: May and June bring 24-28°C with rain dropping from 25mm to 3mm, and September gives 12mm with the sea at 24°C. Winters are wet here too, though December's 147mm is less than Antalya's.

The busiest departure cities for these two, with a place kept for each other part of the world. Busiest means arriving passengers where an official count exists, and where none does, the number of non-stop services flown: official route statistics are published by the European reporting countries and by nobody else, so a table ranked on them alone would offer a reader in New York or Tokyo ten European cities. Flying times are estimated from the distance between airports, and every row is a city flown non-stop to both. Where the typical offer connects anyway, the stops are shown. Under each figure is the airport the flight lands at and how far that is from the centre, because the nearest airport is not always the one a route is flown to. Where both columns name the same airport it is one flight, and the difference between the two is the distance printed beside it. Typical return fares for 2026-08 to 2026-10, cached market data up to 7 days old. The figure is the middle half of the offers found, so a single price means they agreed and a range means they did not; for a typical route that middle half spans about a quarter of the median, and for the least settled routes rather more than the median itself.
